Rock climbing has become one of my favorite outdoor recreational activities. I have always loved the sport and try to do it at least 1 a month.
So you might wonder why I start to take rock climbing, right?
The reasons that encourage me to take on rock climbing are so simple; it is very beneficial and it is not so expensive to pursuit.
Here are some of the most important reasons why I like rock climbing.
- First of all, this sport brings me a lot of benefits. For example, it helps me to keep fit and stay healthy as I need to use a lot of energy as well as muscles while performing the task.
- Furthermore, rock climbing offers me a chance to go outside seeing beautiful landscape and breathing the natural air.
- Another benefit of rock climbing that I always cherish it that it is a good chance to push my mental and physical ability to the limit so that after each time I go rock climbing, I come back better and stronger with a fresher and more determined mind.
- In addition, I have a lot of good chance to meet many people who have the same interest in rock climbing just like me along my trips. We become friends not only when it comes to partners to go rock climbing with but also friends in life.
With all of the benefits that rock climbing brings to me, it is worthwhile for you to take part in this sport as well.
In the next part, I want to share with all of you my experience when I went rock climbing in Indianapolis. Needless to say, it is one of the most valuable trips that I won’t forget for the rest of my life.
My experience when I went rock climbing in Indianapolis
I started to go off the trip without much prepare, especially for the physical aspect. Therefore, I got tired very easily. Normally for the trail that I go rock climbing, it only takes about 4 hours to go to the Red River George. However, it took me about 6 to 7 hours to get there with a lot of breaks.
Therefore, my first advice to you is always going rock climbing well prepared.
You need to prepare in both mental and physical health. After that time, I start to do some intense workouts and running to maintain a physical fit so that I don’t have any trouble to climb on hard rocky areas.
I made the first mistake during one of my first break. I took a bottle of water and drank it all before I threw it away. Immediately I got scolded by my partner. In general, you should not let anything behind you in order to keep the nature as intact as possible. You should be environmental-friendly and remember to take all of your rubbish with you.
When the sun went down, we decided to unpack our tent and set up a nice place. That is the time that I could not forget for the rest of my life. We dance, we toast marshmallows and we talk to each other. There was also another group which camped nearby. And it even got more fun when they came to us and shared some fun with us as well.
After that, we went to sleep feeling all happy and relaxed.
In the next morning, when I thought it was going to be sunny and windy, it started to rain. Luckily, I would be able to bring a rain coat as well as a part of water proof boots. They were really helpful as they could prevent me from getting wet and hence, sustain a lot of energy and heat for our body.
During the trip, I felt hungry often. Normally, I don’t eat that much and don’t like to eat snacks and chocolate. However, I learn that eating these types of food can offer you a boost in your energy level, make you more concentrated and increase your blood pressure. I also learn my lesion form this experience. So next time you go rock climbing, remember to bring a lot of bars of snacks. Will all of the intensive activities, you will become hungry more frequently and will need to eat more.
Also remember to drink frequently along the trip.
One of my partners got a minor injury and we needed to stop to apply some band-aid for him. Luckily I bring along a medical first aid kit, which was became handy. I know some people who don’t think that bringing a bag of first aid kid with them is necessary. However, you will never know what might happen along the trip. That is the reason why you should always go rock climbing with the essential medical bag.
At the end of the trip, I went back home exhausted. I could not lift my hands as well as my legs for the next few days. However, the trip was so fun and memorable. I had a good chance to challenge myself and met a lot of new people.
After that, I have done a lot of rock climbing but the first time I want rock climbing I would never forget for the rest of my life.
